Hi Mike,
This is a 4-year old thread, but you're right, some HDMI connectors are not easy, because of the shaped holes for the shield. It can take me many hours to do that, and I'm reasonably experienced with EAGLE : (
Anyway, I do not have an EAGLE footprint for a full-sized HDMI plug, but I do have a footprint for a HDMI-mini, if that helps - it avoids shaped holes by being soldered end-on. You could use an adaptor from amazon to convert from that to full-sized HDMI.
This is the footprint (I connected it to some pads, to make a breakout board, but the plug has its own part footprint), let me know if you wish to have the library file for it.
This footprint is for this part: https://uk.farnell.com/multicomp/60s019p-301n-b1-fec/plug-mini-hdmi/dp/1708476
However that is no longer stocked, but it looks like this HDMI mini plug is an identical size, although out of stock till 1st Jan.
It requires a 1mm thick PCB, but I used 0.8mm for this breakout board.
